My counseling career started way before I even knew I’d become a therapist. I’m grateful for the lessons that have shaped my style of therapy, which is through spirituality, authenticity, transparency, optimism, humor (when appropriate of course) and through the use of metaphors. I’ve had the privilege of working with children, adolescents, groups, individual adults and family units under different capacities and various settings, such as school-based counseling and community mental health clinics. My work over the past ten years has been with those from diverse backgrounds experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma (including generational), family and relationship challenges, LGBT+, foster care, learning disabilities, ADHD, and high-functioning autism. My role as a therapist is to help my clients reach personal growth, self-reliance and have healthy and satisfying interpersonal relationships.

I genuinely believe my career as a therapist chose me because as cliché as it may sound, everything happens for a reason and it’s part of God’s plan which I graciously accepted. I was led to pursue higher education, to study the mental health field and to ultimately be part of this webpage at the Daybreak Counseling Center. My style of therapy is authenticity, optimism, humor (when appropriate of course) and through the use of metaphors. For example, life is like a puzzle and if I should get the privilege to work with you, together we’ll discover what techniques work best for you one piece at a time.

My bachelor's degree is in Psychology with a certificate in Child Maltreatment and Family Violence. My master's degree is in Counseling with a focus in Marriage Family Therapy and School-Based Family Counseling. I also have credentials in Pupil Personnel Services and Child Welfare and Attendance. Both degrees, certificates and credentials were awarded to me at California State University, Los Angeles.

I am whole-heartedly dedicated to counseling and have worked in different capacities with children, youth, groups, individual adults and family units. Over the past ten years I've had the opportunity to work with those from diverse backgrounds experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma (including generational), family and relationship challenges, LGBT+, foster care, learning disabilities, and high-functioning autism. My therapeutic approaches have been Play-Therapy when working with children, Choice Theory when working with adolescents and individual adults, Attachment Theory with couples and Systems Theory when working with the family unit. Additionally, I am passionate about parenting skills and I’ve conducted court-approved parenting workshops that focused on positive discipline, the human lifespan development and current societal norms.

My role as a therapist is to be a helpful guide to an individual’s healing and transformation through developing awareness, increasing knowledge and adapting skills to reach personal growth, self-reliance and have healthy and satisfying interpersonal relationships.
