I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and the Clinical Director at Daybreak Counseling Center. I received my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Azusa Pacific University and Bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Communication Studies from Cal State Long Beach. The practice of psychotherapy always intrigued me and from a young age and I often found myself advocating to break the stigma concerning therapy. I knew I wanted to help others who struggled to find their voice in a world where they are often silenced. Growing up in a culturally diverse population taught me how everyone experiences life uniquely, and that there is no one size fits all when it comes to the care that they need. I take pride in my ability to attune to my clients and meet their needs while respecting where they are at in their journey.
My approach to therapy stems from a post-modern psychoanalytic and person-centered approach. I prioritize taking time to learn about my client’s presenting problems as well as their history to ensure their success in counseling process. I recognize therapy can be an intimidating process to start, which is why I use a person-centered approach that focuses on creating a safe space for each and every client. It is my goal to make the therapy process positive so that they want to continue to show up and do the work. For my work with couples, I am excited to utilize theories and techniques from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to improve communication, understand relational dynamics, and resolve conflicts, thereby enhancing relationship satisfaction and facilitating healing.
My clinical experience is composed of working with a diverse range of families, adults, couples, adolescents, children and the LGBTQ+ community in both individual and group settings. I have experience with a wide range of personal growth and mental health matters and have provided therapy and support with issues ranging from from anxiety, depression, grief, trauma to relationships, work stress, and life transitions. I continue to work towards expanding my experience, education and personal development so I can continue to grow as a therapist and continue to provide a safe and resourceful space for my clients.
